Microsoft also has a deal with Electronic Arts to include EA Play inside Game Pass-so every Game Pass subscription now includes EA’s own subscription service, with dozens of EA classics from the last three console generations. Game Pass already had a deep lineup that features most of Microsoft’s first party games, including the entire Halo and Gear of Wars series, along with a rotating selection of top games from third party publishers and independent developers. Will it work long term? Who knows, but for now it’s a fantastic deal for consumers. Microsoft is banking hard that a subscription service like this is the future of gaming, with the recent acquisition of Zenimax and proposed purchase of Activision Blizzard eyed to keeping the Game Pass content pipeline chugging along.
